Android System Update Requirements

Satish Shetty Updated by Satish Shetty

To enable automatic Android system update through MDM (Mobile Device Management) such as Codeproof, the following conditions must be met:

  1. The device must be connected to a reliable network (cellular or WiFi) to ensure a stable and reliable update process.
  2. The device needs to have sufficient battery power to complete the update process.
  3. Sufficient storage space must be available on the device to download and install the update.
  4. The device must be idle, which means that it is not actively being used by the user. This helps to prevent any interruption or unexpected behavior during the update process.
  5. The device should have enough time to download and install the update. The process can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the size of the update.
  6. Pixel phones install downloaded Android updates in the background. The installed updates become active the next time that you restart your phone (Learn how to restart a Pixel phone).
Other brands of Android phones and tablets automatically restart while they install downloaded Android updates. The updates become active when installation finishes.

Note that specific Android system update requirements can vary depending on the device model and the version of the operating system.
